Day -13,14,15,16,17 (24,25,26,27,28th June,2008)

Missed a lot of days.... so will take my liberty of crossing the stipulated 25 words limit which I have been doing anyways :).

Was shown a documentary titled " Running Out of Time" .It was an apt reminder for all of us that even though now we can have the world at out feet....for some getting 2 square meal is still the aim of their lives.

There is a reason they say XLRI Jamshedpur has the best faculty in the country .... a faculty should be a facilitator for generating ideas and provoking thoughts.... they all do it .... in their own ways.... unfailingly.Period

Had our freshers party on 25th night, danced like nuts and made merry .... party ended at 4:30 in the morning and people had classes from 8:30 am :D.

Things are going pretty chilled out for PMIR guys for the time being and BM people are still sleeping around 5 hours a day... though this could very well be the lull before the storm ;)

Today we were introduced to various committees (FINAX,SAPPHIRE,FIRE@X,PlaceCom etc) and soon the selection procedure for the same would be started.

Pretty much what I can remember of these days gone by .... C ya later !!!

Day -12 (23th June,2008)

Had Indian Business History class by Prof. Madhukar Shukla and was such a privilege ....
a great institute like XL gives one an opportunity to meet such stalwarts and weren't we glad :D

Day -11(22th June,2008)

Had our brain mapping class for whole day .... created a lot of mess :D
I mean where else would you get away with scribbling on a chart about yourself ... and the more the better ....
oh ... and did I forgot to tell you that it was Sunday ? cause I myself lost the count of days :P

Day -10 (21th June,2008)

Dadu's is known for its amazing neembu pani, maggi and .. yeah though not exactly its product ... sutta ;).Creating a sense of history out of ordinary ... XL is a master at that.

Day -9 (20th June,2008)

Seniors are organizing gyaan sessions today for us ... the so called "Studs" of every subject are telling us the tricks of the trade .... and did I tell you that these sessions starts at 11 PM and continue till 1:30 .... with an assignment due and class at 8:30 in morning ...
they mean it when they say .. it will be a life changing experience :D

Day -8 (19th June,2008)

Celebrated the birthdays of two of our batchmates ... they were told to walk ramp like models and give lap dance to each other... and if you are thinking too much ..... they were both guys :).
XLRI simply rocks !!!

Day -7 (18th June,2008)

Life has become so simple suddenly .... 1 hour of extra sleep is my bliss now ... and 6 hours of sleep in a day ... heaven :)

Day -6 (17th June,2008)

Attended the first ever class of the legend they call here "Gango" (T. Gangopadhay) .Had our intro to PMIR session ...with a scolding for Prof E M Rao(Another stalwart) for taking such "God Forsaken" course..and assurance that now we are cursed for life : ). Quoting him " You have now married the Ghost .... may God bless you " !!! :D.

It's pouring here and everyone wants to see the Sun now.

Day -5 (16th June,2008)

Preparatory Course commenced today.First Case Study Class.Was told not to stand up for faculty as now we are management in training..... things are different here for sure :).
Intense Discussion & realization that we need to listen a lot more than speak.

Day -4 (15th June,2008)

Free day(first Sunday) supposedly dedicated to knowing our city, Jamshedpur.Wake up late; probably on the last Sunday like Sunday in a long time to come.Then the discussion started about where to go; Dimna Lake, Tata Sarover and Laser Show in Jubilee Park were some of the alternatives and every place was graced with Xlers benign presence ;). After that, went to Bistupur- had yummy chaat,Jalebi and sweets at "Chappan Bhog".
Senior are on campus now; had a little chat with them.

Tommorrow the preparatory course starts. Wish us luck !!!

Day -3 (14th June,2008)

Had our orientation today; was given a long list of do's and don't.Got a case to study along with the Student Manual & ID Card; Emotions ran high in the Mess when India lost to Pakistan.Some more bakar; discussing Indian education system and all the chipku guys in our batch till 3 AM in the morning.

The tale of unearthly hours has begun :P .

Day -2 (13th June,2008)

4 ppl talking in a lawn.Within a span of 1 hour it became a gathering of 50+ ppl , introducing each other, pulling legs and having fun.....
this was not what they told us about a b-school :P

Day -1 (12th June,2008)

Arrived at 12:30 in the night.Too many new names to remember but that didn't stopped us from bakaring till 3 in the morning despite being dead tired :D.Any indication of days to come ahead ? :)
